Should we put our rocks in the Freezer?

Dear Rock Collectors,

I had an absolutely exhilarating week this week. I went to Barbadil, Alaska and finally found the ancient grutchma stone that I've wanted ever since I was a little kid.

When I got home, obviously the first thing I was going to do was put it in my freezer to make it cleaner and shinier. But while I was in Alaska I met Tom Blundunsun who is also a rock collector. He told me that he once found a Grutchma Stone. But he said that when he put it in his freezer, it disintigrated.

He said this happens because the ancient carbon starches react with the cold weather's crystalized ions, and literally break the stone down to dust. And he told me that this is dangerous for my entire rock collection since all stones have carbon starches. And any stone can disintegrate to dust if you leave it in there.

So I won't be leaving my stones in the freezer any more. And I definitely won't be leaving them in there for an entire year... that would be insane.

Sincerely,
Rocky Collector
